Miranda Darling is a writer, poet, and co-founder of Vanishing…
DiscoverScribe is happy to announce the acquisition of Thunderhead by Miranda Darling. ANZ rights were acquired, at auction, from Grace Heifetz at Left Bank Literary, and UK rights were acquired from John Ash at Pew Literary (before his move to CAA).
Thunderhead is a unique new novella that follows one day in the complex interior world of its protagonist, Winona Dalloway. Funny, sharp, wry, and written in an unusually vivid and distinct register, it will stay with readers long after they have put it down.
‘Entering the world of Miranda Darling's Thunderhead for the first time was one of the most surprising, rewarding, and immersive experiences I’ve had as either a publisher or a reader. To say too much about its themes would be to give away its perfectly sustained tension, but this is precisely the kind of transformative, daring, and richly imagined fiction that we at Scribe love to champion,’ said publisher Marika Webb-Pullman.
‘I am thrilled that Scribe are publishing Thunderhead here and in the UK. With Marika's pitch-perfect editorial sensibility, and the house's obvious passion for books and commitment to beautiful design, I feel like I have found the perfect home for the manuscript. I am very much looking forward to working with them,’ the author commented.
Scribe will publish Thunderhead in March 2024 in ANZ and May 2024 in the UK.
