Chris Womersley’s The Low Road has won the 2008 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Fiction. Receiving rave reviews after publication — The Australian Financial Review’s Simon Hughes declared it the best book of the year — the prize was well deserved. The Ned Kelly was awarded to Womersley in a ceremony on Friday night as part of the Melbourne Writers Festival.
